Jinja town is located in the eastern part of Uganda and was at one time the leading industrial center of Uganda due to the presence of a hydro power dam. After this electricity was distributed to other parts of Uganda, Jinja lost its position as an industrial city. Despite of losing the above status, Jinja is still regarded as one of the best places to visit in Uganda. Its about 2 hours drive from Kampala past Mabira forest which is the only remaining large patch of natural lowland tropical forest in central Uganda.

ATTRACTIONS IN JINJA

Jinja is popularly known to be the source of river Nile which is the longest river on planet earth and the spot where the first white man-John Speke discovered the source of the Nile is one of the most visited in Jinja. Because of the presence of River Nile, many activities such as white water rafting, kaying, fishing have developed alongside quadi biking and so many other activities.

White Water Rafting – Nile River, Jinja

Ssezibwa Falls Visit – Jinja

En route to Jinja, visit beautiful Ssezibwa Falls, a cultural site for the Buganda Kingdom, one of Uganda’s local tribes. Thought to be the dwelling for some of the tribe’s spirits, visitors can enjoy watching the clear blue water as it falls down the steep cliff and quietly flows into the forest. Follow your trip to the falls with a guided forest walk to the local snake cave where cultural rituals are performed.

Quad Biking – Jinja
