Kibale is best known for chimpanzee tracking, it contains the most diverse area of tropical forests in Uganda. The park is home to 70 mammal species like the bush pigs, buffalos, duiks, though rarely seen, 13 primate species like the uncommon l’hoest’s monkey and the endangered red colobus, among others and 375 bird species all easy to access. It is one of Uganda’s most rewarding destinations to consider. Chimpanzees occasionally hunt, we will spot them socialize, relax while feeding on fruits.

Day 1: Entebbe – kibale

In the morning, a driver guide from Zzike tropical safaris will pick you from any agreed point or your place of residence to start your journey to kibale driving through Kampala and then westwards towards Fort portal. During the drive you will enjoy Uganda’s traditional homesteads, farms and its way of life. We shall have a stop in Fort portal town for our lunch at the Dutchess restaurant. We shall then continue our journey with beautiful views of plantations and rolling hills which give an opportunity for photographs. Fort portal is famous for weaving and basketry so we may stop and spend some time with the locals. The journey will take approximately 5-6 hours. Arrive for check- in to the lodge and relax while prepare for a community walk. In the evening together with your guide you will be escorted by one of the local guides knowledgeable about the village who will take you around the neighboring villages visiting schools, churches and the communities while learning about the norms and culture of the different tribes which surround this area. You’ll later return to the lodge late evening to relax for the next day’s activities.

Day 2: chimpanzee tracking – kibale

After an early morning breakfast, report to the park headquarters at Kanyanchu for briefing and proceed for chimpanzee tracking. This can take you half a day. There are other primates in the area like the L’Hoest monkey, baboons, white and black colobus monkeys, grey cheeked mangabey, red colobus, blue monkeys and pottos. Other animals include forest elephants, giant forest hogs and a striking tree species.
Enjoy your packed Lunch after the tracking and later take a guided nature walk to Bigodi swamp sanctuary, a good site for birders. The Great Blue Turaco and Papyrus Gonolek can easily be marked among the other bird 137 species. There is also an array of butterfly species.

Day 3: kibale – Entebbe

Wake up to a tasty breakfast; prepare for the journey back to Entebbe driving via kyenjojo- hoima road viewing beautiful plantations and homesteads, en-route stop for lunch in hoima town at Trudy’s Diner. You will then make another stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino tracking which takes 1 ½ hrs. Proceed to Entebbe for drop off at the airport for your flight back home or to any agreed place.
